Student Storage – Terms & Conditions

1. Agreement & Amendments

By registering for and using Wondermove’s Student Storage services, the customer agrees to the following terms and conditions. Wondermove reserves the right to amend these terms at any time. Continued use of our services after any amendments constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Service Overview

Wondermove’s Student Storage service includes:

  • Delivery of packing supplies to the customer’s residence.
  • Pickup of packed storage items from the customer’s designated location.
  • Storage of items for the selected duration in a Wondermove facility.
  • Return delivery of stored items to the customer at the designated conclusion of the storage term.

Wondermove does not use third-party contractors. All storage, transportation, and handling are performed by Wondermove employees within Wondermove-owned facilities.

3. Registration & Fees

Customers must pay a $19.99 registration fee to secure space for storage. This fee includes the processing of the order and delivery of packing supplies (if applicable).

  • The registration fee is fully refundable if:
    • Appointment is cancelled before supply kits are delivered
    • Appointment is cancelled at least 48 hours before scheduled pickup
  • Cancellation fees:
    • $50 for Essential and Deluxe packages
    • $100 for Ultimate package

4. Storage Access & Early Retrieval

Customers can access their stored items before their scheduled delivery date for a $100 early access fee, subject to availability. This requires appointment scheduling and is separate from any delivery fees outside normal dates.

5. Package Inclusions and Additional Charges

Each package includes a designated number of boxes and/or plastic containers for storage. If the customer exceeds the included quantity, they will be charged at a pro-rated rate based on the total cost of the package divided by the included quantity of items.

  • Standard Box/Container: Up to 4.5 cubic feet (max dimensions: 24″ x 18″ x 18″)
  • Large Item: Anything between 4.5 and 20 cubic feet
  • Extra Large Item: Anything exceeding 20 cubic feet

The Ultimate Package allows unlimited storage; however, customers are restricted to storing only their own property and cannot combine storage contents with another customer.

6. Payment Policies & Storage Commitment

  • Customers are responsible for paying the full term of their selected storage duration.
  • No refunds will be provided if the customer chooses to retrieve their items earlier than the agreed-upon storage term.
  • Any additional charges incurred (such as exceeding package limits or selecting add-on services) will be applied to the customer’s account and must be settled before the delivery of stored items.
  • Final charges are based on actual services rendered and final inventory verification upon completion of pickup.
  • Customer authorizes full payment to be charged automatically after pickup is complete. The credit card used for registration will be used to complete the remaining balance.
  • Charges are typically processed within 7 business days of pickup (may be delayed during peak periods).
  • A detailed invoice will be attached to the payment receipt.
  • Wondermove reserves the right to hold stored possessions until all outstanding balances are paid in full.

7. Special Pickup & Delivery Fees

A $200 fee applies for pickup/delivery outside designated U-M semester dates:

  • End of Winter: >10 days before or >5 days after
  • End of Spring: >5 days before or >3 days after
  • End of Summer: >5 days before or >5 days after
  • Beginning of Fall: >10 days before or >2 days after
  • End of Fall: >3 days before or >10 days after

Customers may schedule pickup/delivery on any Monday or Wednesday outside these windows with NO special charges.

8. Packing & Liability

  • Customers must pack their own items unless they opt for Wondermove’s full-service packing.
  • Full-service packing costs an additional $300 for Essential/Deluxe packages (already included with Ultimate).
  • Full-service packing increases the number of eligible items for insurance coverage but does not increase liability coverage limits.
  • Wondermove is not liable for damage to self-packed items unless caused by gross negligence during storage or handling.
  • No coverage is provided for fragile items/electronics not packed by Wondermove employees.
  • No coverage is provided for damaged/cracked plastic containers stored as-is.

9. Prohibited Items

The following items are strictly prohibited from storage:

  • Food and perishable goods
  • Drugs, paraphernalia, or any controlled substances
  • Cash, jewelry, or valuables (not permitted regardless of value)
  • Liquids and cleaning supplies
  • Hazardous materials, weapons, or anything illegal

Wondermove reserves the right to inspect and remove any prohibited items found in storage without liability for their disposal.

10. Scheduling & Cancellations

  • Changes to scheduled moves must be made at least 72 hours in advance; last-minute changes may be subject to additional fees.
  • Cancellations within 48 hours of a scheduled move will incur penalty fees.
  • Pickup window varies by package:
    • Essential Package: 3-hour window
    • Deluxe Package: 2-hour window
    • Ultimate Package: 1-hour window
  • Customers must be present for their scheduled pickup and delivery unless electronic paperwork is sent and signed at least 24 hours before pickup.

11. Abandonment & Disposal

  • Items are considered abandoned if not retrieved within 30 days after storage term.
  • Wondermove may sell, auction, or dispose of abandoned items to recover storage costs.
  • Customers remain liable for any outstanding storage balances even if their items are abandoned.

12. Lost or Damaged Items & Claims

  • If a stored item is lost or damaged, the customer must report it within 48 hours of delivery.
  • Claims must be filed through Wondermove’s designated claims process within 3 days of delivery.
  • Insurance coverage options:
    • Standard coverage: Up to $100 per stored item
    • Additional coverage for Essential/Deluxe: $6.00 per $100 of coverage
    • Maximum coverage limit: $2,000 per customer
    • Ultimate package includes $2,000 coverage
  • If a claim is approved, Wondermove will compensate according to the customer’s coverage level.
  • Wondermove is not liable for improperly self-packed items.

13. Liability Disclaimer

  • Wondermove is not responsible for items improperly packed by the customer.
  • The company is not liable for loss or damage caused by external factors beyond our control, including natural disasters, acts of theft, or mishandling by the customer.
  • Customers agree to hold Wondermove harmless for any damages beyond the stated liability limits.

By scheduling and utilizing Wondermove’s Student Storage services, the customer agrees to these terms and conditions.
